Good morning, and happy Sunday!
I have been a bit out of touch this week on all social network platforms as I found myself buried under about 100 assignments to grade (NOT hyperbole!) along with a guest blog post to write AND my first-ever seminar presentation! Of course, these are all excellent ‘problems’ to have; I’m gainfully employed and people want to know what I have to say about nutrition! 😀 This morning I finally had a free minute, but of course I wanted to make good use of it, so I created the Official Vitamin (Ph)D Facebook page!
Now you might be wondering about how my first seminar went. Well, it felt a lot like my time in the classroom, with one major difference: when I was finished, everyone applauded! 😀 It took place at Blueprint Fitness in Atlanta, which is a gem of a gym with lovely clients and a gregarious owner. The crowd asked very thoughtful questions about food labels (like ‘no antibiotics’ and ‘organic’), which protein powders are the best, and whether things like soy and protein bars can be included in a nutritious diet. The owner, Joshua Jarmin, does a great job of promoting evidence-based exercises and nutrition information. It was a dynamic collaboration and there will surely be a follow-up seminar. I even had an official camera crew, so pictures and video snippets will be available soon. (Do you need a videographer in the Atlanta area? Check out JLW Studios and get in touch!)
Also, be on the lookout for my next blog post, which will actually be a guest blog post on a very promising supplement to combat delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and get you back in the gym sooner!
In the meantime, check out his website, and follow us both on Facebook! 🙂
